LEGACY MINIATURES, Interview

Beasts of War has just uploaded an interview with Vincent Fontaine of Legacy Miniatures with more details on the coming revival of Confrontation miniatures.

RACKHAM MINIATURES, Confrontation Lives!

CoolMiniorNot has just posted news that Legacy Miniatures has acquired the rights to bring back into production the metal Confrontation miniatures.  From their website:

Legacy Miniatures is excited to announce that they have secured the license to the entire Confrontation back catalog, and will immediately start producing previously released and unreleased figures from this amazing and sorely missed miniatures line.

Confrontation was a game published by Rackham Entertainment until it entered liquidation in 2009, and some of the most amazing 28mm figures in the world ceased to be available at that time. Cyanide Studios, a prominent French video game developer, has acquired the Confrontation IP and has licensed the miniatures to Legacy Miniatures.

“We’re incredibly pleased”, said Vincent Fontaine Artistic Director of Legacy Miniatures and former Paint Director of Rackham Entertainment. “We’re starting out slowly and doing about 2 to 4 releases a month, some miniatures that never saw production before Rackham closed its doors.”

For more information, read the rest of the announcement here.

WYRD, July 2011 Releases

Wyrd recently announced the availability of the latest releases for their Malifaux game:

WYR4039 – Collodi – Clamshell – $10.50

WYR4040 – Marrionetts (4 pack) – Clamshell – $16.50

WYR4041 – Wicked Dolls (3 pack) – Clamshell – $16.50

WYR3034 – Snow Storm (small box) – $35

WYR2038 – Night Terrors (2 pack) – $15

WYR1038 – Guild Hounds (2 pack) – $14

WYR3035 – Mobile Toolkit – $8.50

WYR2039 – Dead Rider (small box) – $30

There are several great models in this release, like Snow Storm and Dead Rider, but my favorite is the Guild Hounds.  Not only because they are for my chosen faction for the game, but especially because they were sculpted by Jody Siegel, one of my favorite sculptors.

(Jody, some of you may recall, sculpted Grimm’s Cat for Mannikin Studios.)

ARCHIVE UPDATE, more Wolfen and art

I’m continuing to make daily updates to the Wolfen section, and have also added two new sections to the GRAPHICA category in the Aarklash Archive: Illustrations and Wallpaper.  At the moment these sections do not represent all that I have (some files are scattered about on my HD), so be sure to check back on occasion for updates.  Also, please note that two of the files in the Wallpaper section are fan made, and will likely be moved to an area devoted to fan productions.

ARCHIVE UPDATE, Wolfen

I’ve started the Wolfen page at long last.  The first entry is none other than Asgarh (pictured here).

I’ve had to put updates to the archive on hold for a while due to other responsibilities, but now hope to make regular (albeit small) updates on a daily basis until the project is done.  I have lots of great things to upload, so check back often.  Better yet, you can subscribe to the blog by entering your email address in the appropriate location in the bar on the left, or via RSS feed.

IMBRIAN ARTS, game design preview

Jody Siegel of Imbrian Arts recently previewed images of a very unique game accessory, a shamanic “summoning circle” that uses bones instead of dice to resolve game actions.

For more information visit the Imbrian Arts website or read Jody’s synopsis (and the ensuing discussion) of the circle’s development on the Dragon Painting forum.

UPDATE: Jody has uploaded a video to YouTube demonstrating how the circle works.

IMBRIAN ARTS, ghoul 2

Jody Siegel of Imbrian Arts recently previewed his sculpt for the second of four planned ghouls for his range of characters for the Damned.  This model will be available as part of a set later this year.

For those of you who don’t know, Jody sculpted the recently released Grimm’s Cat and another soon-to-be-released model from Mannikin Studios.

IMBRIAN ARTS, New Talent

Imbrian Arts has recently recruited Sebastian Archer of Guild of Harmony, one of the most recognized talents in this hobby, to sculpt models for a new range of characters. To date Sebastian has sculpted a demonic eye and the first of four planned ghouls for Imbrian’s Damned faction.

You can follow the development of this range on the Imbrian Arts website, or the various forums they frequent, including WargamesAU, Frothers, OzPainters, and DragonPainting (to name a few).

MANNIKIN STUDIOS, Grimm’s Cat and Father Christmas

Mannikin Studios has just released two new models for their range of miniatures based on the artwork of Arthur Rackham, Grimm’s Cat and Father Christmas.  From their website:

We’re delighted to announce that Grimm’s Cat and Father Christmas are now available to order. Father Christmas was originally intended to be released one month after Grimm’s Cat, but since the latter is late we’ve decided to make them available together.

Grimm’s Cat is based on artwork from Arthur Rackham’s illustrated edition of The Fairy Tales of the Brothers Grimm, and is the first of twelve models planned for our series of fae trees. The model is comprised of two parts, measures 32mm to the top of the cat’s head, and includes one round 40mm base. Grimm’s Cat was sculpted by Jody SIEGEL of Imbrian Arts.

Father Christmas is Rackham’s classic rendition of the holiday character, which originally appeared in Arthur Rackham’s Book of Pictures. The model is comprised of two parts, comes with two options for his sack (elves or presents), measures 35mm to the highest point, and includes one round 30mm base. Father Christmas was sculpted by David AYRAL of Anakron Miniatures Studio.

Both models were cast in an ultra fine resin of French vintage, are comprised of small delicate parts, are intended for advanced modelers, and require some modeling and assembly. They are priced at just $12.50 USD + $4.95 shipping worldwide.

There are only 40 casts of each model available for this release, but we’ll produce more based on demand.

Best Sculpts of the Week, February 2011.2

I discovered lots of great sculpts this week.  Some of them were actually completed more than a week ago, but these are the ones that made the greatest impression on me this week.

First up is two sculpts by Stephane Simon: La rose du mal (has someone been reading Baudelaire?) & Ulric le Profanateur (that’s Ulric the Profane for you Anglophones out there).  Some of you might recognize the talent on display here, the same that gave us the Molochs, Souffre Toile, and Ophidian apostates (among others). According to Stephane’s blog these sculpts were purchased by Maelstrom Games for their Bane Legions range.

Next up is a collection of great Berserkers sculpted by the very talented Kevin Adams for Otherworld Miniatures.  These models feature a great classic look that will appeal to fans of Otherworld‘s range of fantastic miniatures, as well as anyone looking for a generic model to represent a screaming-mad barbarian warrior.

And last but not least, some great sculpts from the hands of the ever-talented Tre Manor: Fat Fergus and Hog Squasher Troll.  Wow, Tre–Wow!  You’ve really outdone yourself.

Administrative Update, 27 February 2011

I’ve just added several companies to the appropriate section in the column on the right.  Some of the companies I neglected to add long ago (sorry, Victoria and D. Forge), others are older companies I discovered only recently, many are new.  I’m continually amazed by how many companies there are now–and more are on the way.

Imbrian Arts, goblin set preorder offer

I’m thrilled to share this news about the preorder offer from Imbrian Arts for their forthcoming goblin set.  From their Web site:

Over the past few months I’ve been showing previews of the upcoming goblins set on the Imbrian Arts Facebook page and all over the net. Finally we can all breath a sigh of relief and say it’s about damn time the pre order got put up! The goblin set is now available for pre order and will be released on the 21st of January. As a special thank you to those who pre order a set I’ll include prints of the concept art for the goblin shrike and troll druid. This is the only time they’ll be available and the only way to get them is by pre ordering your goblin set.

The Goblin set contains 10 miniatures, including 9 goblins and a massive troll druid. The goblins race is diverse and strange, with each goblin seeming to be a unique creature and in many circumstances bearing no resemblance to its kin. Among the goblins in this set you’ll find 3 goblin shrikes, 3 goblin footmen, 2 shaggamaws, and a goblin cat eater.

Confrontation 3, cards

I’ve added a page to the Confrontation section featuring links to download the ZIP files containing most of the cards for C3.  These are the same files that were available on the old Rackham Web site.  The files are available in both French and English.
