GUILD OF HARMONY, Maria Poppets and Albert

Sebastian ARCHER recently previewed his latest release for the Guild of Harmony steampunk range, Maria Poppets and Albert.

One of the rare heart-warming sights in the Clockwork Empire is that of Maria Poppets and her faithful companion Albert, almost seeming to float on air as they dance their way across the rooftops of New London searching out those in need of good cheer.

Carried from place to place by changes in the wind, the often-unexpected appearance of Maria and Albert is considered a good omen amongst the downtrodden citizens of the smokestack slums.

32mm limited edition resin figure, strictly limited to 350 casts only. Each resin cast comes with a numbered and signed certificate of authenticity.

You can see more photos of the sculpt on the GoH website and purchase the model from their online store.

This is a brilliant and ambitious sculpt, easily one of Sebastian’s finest.  I’ve never been much of a steampunk fan, but Sebastian is turning me into a convert.  I picked up his last release for this range (Steampunk Tinker Belle), and this one is now high on my list.

RED BOX GAMES, May 2012 Releases

Gynnade Krigare

Red Box Games just announced their most impressive release ever. From their announcement (unedited to preserve Tre’s unique voice):

Well guys at long last the first wave of the HelsVakt Expansion are up for pre-order. Believe me I have been just as anxious to get these out as you guys have been to have them available. This has been a REALLY logn road and I am very glad to be within reach of the ( hopefully ) happy end of it. There is still much much more in store; modular hordesmen, Shield maidens, Archers, characters and yes of course CAVALRY!!! I really hope you guys like what I have ready thus far.

In addition to the HelsVakt Fenris and Infernal Nether Beast, this release includes Yrsa the Accursed (remember the older version from two years ago: IMAGE), Belegast the Bloodthristy, Varp Krigare, PLUS modular bits from these models and limited resin versions.

Yrsa the Accursed

Varp Krigare

On Yrsa, Sebastian Archer wrote, “Yrsa is great – cool to see a muscley athletic chick (that actually looks like a female still!) rather than the usual sexpot bodies.”  Indeed.  I think it’s a positive expression of the direction this industry is taking, that we’re seeing more and more “studies” of anatomy (Thank you, Alan C!).  Enough with the creeping neo-Victorianism that has (largely) plagued the sensibilities of artists and manufacturers in this industry to date.  Accurate portrayal of the body was a mission of da Vinci (and so many others) in the past, and I’m absolutely delighted that miniatures sculptors are picking up the torch.  I have zero interest in gratuitous displays of swelling mammary and pendulous cock.  But as for unabashed displays of the body when character demands it–go for it!

Thank you, Tre.   Follow your instincts, and continue to excel.

GUILD OF HARMONY, Steampunk Tinker Belle

Guild of Harmony has just released a new model for their range of steampunk characters, Tinker Belle (view larger product images and angles here).  According to their website, Tinker Belle (sculpted by Sebastian Archer ) is a 32mm figure strictly limited to 350 casts in resin.  Each model comes with a signed and numbered certificate of authenticity.  Tinker Belle retails for $19.95 AUD and ships worldwide for just $3.50 AUD (assuming your order is under $50.00 AUD total).

I think Sebastian has really outdone himself with this sculpt.  The last model in the series, Steampunk Dorthy, was a stunning piece of work that many sculptors would have been challenged to match, but Sebastian’s done just that with Tinker Belle.  All of which has me wondering what he’ll amaze us with next.

Nagrot Crook-Eye (goblin boss)

If you’ve been meaning to get something from GoH, this is a great opportunity to pick up a stunning limited model and more fantastic pieces from their impressive catalog.  Along with Tinker Belle, I just ordered two characters that have been on my shopping list for too long: Nagrot Crook-Eye (goblin boss) and Jian Nai (Fisherman) ($9.95 and $11.95 respectively).  Watch for a review of the models here on Under the Mountain sometime later this month.
